Nicholas Younger
Chairman Introduction
I was born in Sudbury and have lived here for over 60 years – a place I still call home and continue to love deeply.
My artistic journey began in 2008 when I attended a beginners’ art class in Sudbury with local artist Michelle Webber. From the moment I picked up a brush, I was hooked; what started as a simple introduction quickly grew into a lifelong passion.
I later spent four years studying under artist Eleanor Mann, whose guidance helped shape the style and approach I use today. While I still work four days a week in our family-run business, I am eagerly looking forward to retirement, when I plan to dedicate much more time to the easel.
Style & Inspiration
I primarily work in watercolour, though I have recently enjoyed exploring acrylics and pastels. For me, the greatest joy of art is that there is always something new to learn; it is a creative journey that never truly ends.
Life with the Society
Being a member of the Suffolk Art Society has been incredibly rewarding. Beyond the opportunity to meet many talented artists and form lasting friendships, it has broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for the diverse art that surrounds us. It truly makes the world feel like a more colourful place.
Looking Ahead to 2026
After several years as a member, I have accepted the position of Chairman for 2026. While I hadn’t originally sought out the role, I recognize the vital importance of volunteers in keeping our community vibrant.
I am looking forward to the challenge and hope to help the Society continue to thrive and inspire others.
